I had scrambled eggs with cheese and 2 pieces of bacon about 11:30, my reading was 109 at 12:30.<br />
had a salad about 2:30, forgot to take a reading before. My reading was 111 at 3:30. I was starving so I started dinner. I fixed pork butt steaks and ribs on the grill. I roasted a head of cabbage in the oven and steamed carrots. YUM&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;<br />
I forgot to take a reading before I ate but will take one at 6.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Well, I have been quite remiss in posting and in sticking to my food plan. I am really suffering the consequences of not eating low carb. I have terrible indigestion after every meal, and my diverticulitis is pretty much kicking my butt. I am so pleased you are doing so well Denise with your workouts. I am proud of you. I am doing very well on my eating plan too. Terra and I went to HEB yesterday and bought some really good food for HOT weather. I have been eating very light.</p>
<p>Today I had fruit and cottage cheese for breakfast, a salad and cold ham for lunch, and grilled chicken and brocolli for dinner. It&#8217;s too hot here to eat much at one time. You have to spread it out all day. <img src='http://s2.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So it wasn&#8217;t much of a breakfast but I just ate <span><span> 1/2 cup lowfat cottage cheese, 1/4 cup blueberries, and a little turkey breakfast sausage. I detest breakfast but ate it. I&#8217;m really trying to make myself eat something in the morning and I aim for eating before I&#8217;ve been up 45 minutes but it&#8217;s usually an hour to an hour and a half later that I can stomach food.</span></span></p>
<p><span><span>I know breakfast is important and I know <strong><em>they</em></strong> say its the most important meal of the day but I just can&#8217;t bring myself to eat it most days. And I&#8217;m trying, I really am! I just don&#8217;t feel hungry until I&#8217;ve been up awhile and the thought of eating makes my stomach turn. So, I think I did well eating what I ate this morning. </span></span></p>

<p><span><span>By the way, my FBG was 134. Too high again. Dammit.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>After a few good days of BG and little insulin it&#8217;s all blown up! This afternoon I ate 6 Triscuits, the plain ones, and the BG before dinner at the gym was 169. I took 4 units of Novolog to correct that, purposefully undershooting since I was about to go work out, and cover the 1/2 wrap I&#8217;d eat. Well, when they handed me my dinner there were pita chips on the plate. I ate some of them, not a lot of them, and then worked out for an hour. An hour! BG after the work out was 177 and an hour later it&#8217;s 211! Grrr, must have been the pita chips. I just took 10 units of Novolog and my night time dose of 20 units of Novolin N.</p>
<p>I won&#8217;t eat the pita chips again unless I&#8217;m really low.</p>
<p>Have I mentioned lately how much I dislike being Diabetic?</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I just got back from gettin&#8217; my sweat on at the gym..for an hour and twenty minutes. What fun! No, not really but after my day I needed it. We had Chinese food for lunch, the first Chinese we&#8217;ve had in three weeks. I did take 7 units of Novolog before going and the BG was 134 two hours after eating. Not fantastic but not horrendous, either. A couple of hours later I ate a few pretzels and before I had dinner of meatloaf, sliced tomatoes and a few green peas my BG was 229. Thanks pretzels! So I really needed to work out to bring the BG down.</p>
<p>I deliberately didn&#8217;t take any Novolog because I wanted to see what the exercise sans insulin would do. When I got to the gym the BG was 206. It had gone down a little on its own without outside intervention so I got the sweat on and after the workout the BG was 130. Not bad but half an hour later it was 189. Huh? Damn you, Diabetes!</p>
<p>Some days it seems I can&#8217;t win for losing. But I won&#8217;t give up. I&#8217;m on the right track and I know it. Time, patience, and a lot of effort and I&#8217;ll get there.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>FBG was good this morning but I couldn&#8217;t stomach breakfast, no matter how hard I tried. I did fix the man some cream of wheat and 2 slices of turkey bacon but couldn&#8217;t eat any myself.</p>
<p>I was about to have salad for lunch when I got a call from work telling me I was late. Ooops! I forgot the schedule changed and I was supposed to be there at 11 rather than 1 so I ignored the salad, got dressed, and rushed in. During my lunch break I had some unbreaded grilled chicken with a little bit of pizza sauce and cheese, all baked in the oven. It&#8217;s way too high in fat but is okay for a now and then quick meal.</p>
<p>When I left work two hours later the BG was 96. I ran to the office, changed clothes, picked up the man, and we hustled to the gym. We had dinner at their little cafe; 1/2 a turkey pastrami and cheese wrap (whole wheat wrap) and a few baked pita chips. BG right before working out was 74. I knew I couldn&#8217;t go crazy with the workout (like I ever do!) so I walked an easy pace for 1/2 an hour on the treadmill and checked it again. It was 54! Oooops! Mind you, I hadn&#8217;t had insulin since 7 AM so it wasn&#8217;t insulin causing that and I&#8217;d just eaten a small meal of pretty good carbs. So what happened? I don&#8217;t know but I do wonder if my insulin sensitivity has increased. Can it improve so dramatically and so quickly? Good question..</p>
<p>I stopped the workout, chewed a couple of glucose tabs and took my shower. We got home and it was better at 97.</p>
<p>I really have to figure out this exercise, insulin, and carb issue, and might have to eat a few more carbs before a workout.</p>
<p>Thoughts on this?</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>FBG this morning was 141, too high! I took my standard Novolin N and 3 units of Novolog to correct the high and cover the coffee I was about to drink. The rest of the day it was good so I didn&#8217;t sweat it and didn&#8217;t need any insulin. Until I got home from work at about 6:30 tonight. I tested and it was 370. What?? 370?? Normally I&#8217;d test again because I haven&#8217;t seen a number that high in awhile and I didn&#8217;t eat anything to cause that. But&#8230;I&#8217;ve been feeling kind of queasy for a day or so and figured I&#8217;m getting sick and illness causes my blood sugar to go wacky. So, I shot 20 units of Novolog, ate my dinner of three ounces of baked salmon and a very small baked potato and we headed for the gym.</p>
<p>We only worked out for 35 minutes since the gym closed at 8 tonight and we needed time to shower after the workout. When we got home I checked the BG and it was 68. 68 less than two hours after it was 370? I checked it again and it was 70. Hmmm&#8230; I felt okay but ate 10 small green grapes because the last thing I need is a hypo. 15 minutes later it was 74 , not much better. Now I&#8217;m trying to head off a hypo&#8230;</p>
<p>Anyway, the point is I messed up big time by not checking the BG again after that 370. I don&#8217;t think that was accurate. Then I injected insulin. Then I added exercise to the mix. But hey, I haven&#8217;t needed Novolog except for when I first wake up in the morning for four days now so this is the first time I&#8217;ve shot much insulin and then exercised. Yet another crap shoot for Denise to figure out, huh? I&#8217;ll figure it out but man, its a little scary at times.</p>
<p><strong>Update</strong> &#8211; by 11 PM I was in the throes of a hypo (BG was 32)  that just about knocked my socks off. It took about an hour to get the BG up to a safe level and I woke up with it this morning at 114. Whew!!</p>
<p>Suggestions on how to better handle insulin and exercise would be very welcome!</p>
